Practice with Stop Motion
One of the ideas we have had for our music video is to change the levels of coloured water in glasses in time to the beat of the music, using a stop motion technique. We placed water in glasses, with different food colouring in each one, and then changed the levels of the water one at a time and filmed each level change for one second. We then edited the shots down and placed them in order so that the water levels looked as though they were moving up and down continuously. Now that we have practiced filming and editing with this technique, we will be able to use it with other parts of our footage that we feel would benefit from this. An example of what we have edited is below:

Storyboard Animatic
This is the animatic of our storyboard that we created on post-it notes.
Once we had completed drawing the seperate shots and scenes, we took a photo of them all individually and uploaded them onto Final Cut along with the audio of our chosen song.
We then arranged the individual shots in the correct order and placed them where we would want this shot to be in our final product. We then cut them and shortened them to change with the beat of the music and it has started to look more like the ideas we had first imagined when creating our music video.
However, it is hard to get a full idea of our music video as these are just still shots and have no moving images, but it does allow us to get an idea of how much editing work needs to be done on the actual footag and how much footage we will actual need to film to create what we intend.

Tom Jones Editing Exercise
As we will be needing to lip sync in our music video, we practiced doing this using Tom Jones' song 'It's not Unusual' and used Final Cut to edit between two different shots but still keeping the lips and music synced together in time. We used the blade tool again, like we did with the Pink Panther exercise, to cut the shot of the girls sitting down and then deleted sections at different points, so their movements fitted in to the beat of the music and the main singer was still lip syncing in time. We cut the music to be as long as the shots of film and added fade in and out effects to both the music and film.
