Letter to Record Company

As previously discussed in meeting 2, we came together as a group and have written a letter to be sent off to the record label that Dizzee Rascal is singed to, XL Recordings. This is part of copyright, as we need the permission of the record label to be able to use the song in our music video. a copy of the letter we have sent of is below:

Dear XL Recordings,

We are A2 media studies students from West Hatch High School in Chigwell, and we are writing to you, to inform you of our choice to use Dizzee Rascals record, ‘Bonkers’, and to also ask your permission to use it, to create a music video for our A level coursework.

For our piece we will be creating and developing ideas, filming them and finally editing it to produce our final product. After many brainstorms and much discussion, we settled on ‘Bonkers’ as the mixture of both rap and the electro background music allows us to experiment with more interesting camera shots, angles and narrative as well as editing techniques that will help us to create a more exciting music video for our audience.
If you would like to have a look at the progress we have made so far and wish to see what we plan to include, please take a look at our blog at ‘thestarlightproductions.blogspot.com’. This includes updates as they happen and is in chronological order to allow for easy reading of our development as it unfolds.

So we would like to take this opportunity to ask your permission to use this record, if possible, and if there would be any restrictions you would like to put on the contents of our video, then please let us know.

Many thanks,
Starlight Productions
